Biography

Kathy Byvelds is a Principal at Baker Tilly REO with extensive expertise in taxation and a passion for helping clients better understand their business.

Kathy joined the firm in 1995 as a staff accountant and contributed greatly to establishing the firm as a top choice for agriculture industry in Eastern Ontario. She made partner in 2004, spent four years as managing party from 2014 to 2018 and moved to principal in 2024 but remains a key member of the REO leadership team.

Kathy works directly with business owners and their accounting staff on a wide range of business issues, including financial statements, tax minimization, and succession planning. She most enjoys guiding clients through aspects of their business that they might not understand, helping them overcome hurdles and plan for the future. Her goal with each conversation is to make sure that REO’s clients feel more empowered to achieve their goals.

In addition to her CPA and CA designations, Kathy earned an accounting diploma from St. Lawrence College and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Lakehead University.

When she isn’t working, and sometimes even when she is, Kathy can be found at her cottage, along with her husband and two hounds. Kathy works from BT REO’s Winchester office.
