Welcome John Oakey, our new National Director of Tax Services
Toronto, ON – Collins Barrow National is pleased to announce John Oakey, Senior Tax Partner from the Nova Scotia firm, will be leading the network’s tax committee, taking on the role of National Director of Tax Services.
The network’s Tax Services committee is committed to developing a nationwide practice that offers expert advisory services and innovative planning to reduce clients’ tax burden. As director, Oakey will support tax experts across Collins Barrow by driving network-wide tax advisory initiatives and informing them of regulatory changes. Always actively involved with the Collins Barrow network as a partner, he served on the National Tax Committee for a number of years before taking over as Chair in 2017. Oakey’s thought leadership is shared externally to Collins Barrow as well, as he provides tax training to other professionals through various organizations, including the Canadian Tax Foundation, CPA Canada, CPA Nova Scotia and STEP. Also passionate about tax policy and administration, Oakey is currently the Vice-Chair of the Small and Medium Practitioner Tax Committee.
In his new role, Oakey will represent the network at high-profile conferences this fall, such as speaking at the ONE CPA national conference and the Atlantic Tax Conference, and by participating on external boards like the CPA Canada-CRA joint committee.
